‘Team Tehelka’ may face severe Hindu wrath anytime anywhere for defaming Bal Thackeray

Shiv Sena Asks ‘Tehelka Editor’ to Apologise for Thackeray Article, unless ‘Team Tehelka’ may face severe Hindu wrath anytime anywhere.

365995-tehelkaHENB | THANE | Aug 16, 2015:: Shiv Sena today staged a protest against Weekly News Magazine ‘Tehelka’ over an article on late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray in its issue published on 30th July 2015.

In its 30 July issue, Mathew Samuel wrote in an article titled ‘Who is the Biggest Terrorist Of Them All..?’: “One example of this anti-minority orientation of the Indian State are the double standards applied to Yakub and the other accused in the Bombay blasts case, on the one hand, and the late Bal Thackeray and his Shiv Sainiks who were indicted by the Justice BN Srikrishna Commission for orchestrating the anti-Muslim violence that preceded the bombings, on the other. Yakub’s hanging juxtaposed with the State funeral by the erstwhile Congress-led UPA government for the Shiv Sena supremo is a powerful emblem of this discriminatory and prejudiced understanding that seriously impairs India’s fight against terror.” In this context, Tehelka branded Bal Thackeray as a ‘terrorist’ along with Dawood Ibrahim, Yakub Memon and Bhindranwale.

Shiv Sena district chief and cabinet minister of Maharashtra Govt, Eknath Shinde, who led the agitation, condemned the article and demanded an unconditional apology from the editor of Tehelka.

“If Tehelka weekly fails to apologise, the Sena would intensify its agitation,” he said. Sena protesters shouted slogans against Tehelka and also burnt copies of the weekly.

Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Saturday submitted a complaint to the police against the news magazine Tehelka, seeking criminal action for their recent cover story.

The Shivaji Park police made a station diary entry based on a complaint filed by Bala Nandgaonkar against the article carried by the magazine, which equated Bal Thackeray with Dawood Ibrahim and Yakub Memon!

According to reports, Nandgaonkar complained against the magazine for allegedly using derogatory language and equating Thackeray with terrorists.

In the four-page application, MNS sought an FIR against the magazine’s reporter saying that it has hurt their sentiments.

Now, The Mumbai Police is contemplating action against the magazine. They are exploring legal aspects.

Though the matter of defamation of iconic ‘Maratha Manus’ and a contemporary  ‘Hindutva Legend’ Bal Thackeray by Tehelka came to the hook-up a little bit later, a huge repercussion has already been surfaced in mainstream media and the social media as well.

The trend shows that the public is being ‘vigorous’ against ‘Team Tehelka’ and it may fetch a severe Hindu wrath anytime anywhere, if not the magazine authority does not beg ‘unconditional apology’ for their misdeed.
