COLONIE, NY (NEWS10) – The west met the east Saturday at a health fair held at the Colonie Hindu Cultural Center.
44 vendors came together, some provided conventional medicine and others focused their efforts on holistic healing.
Organizers of the fair said wellness requires a combination of the two. One doctor said meditation is one of the best ways to use the holistic approach.
All you need is ten to fifteen minutes a day to see the benefits.
“When we meditate we are more productive, we are calmer, and we are in the present moment. When we are in the present moment, it really makes a lot of difference,” said Dr. Swatantra Mitta of the Hindu Cultural Center.
Dr. Mitta said Yoga is a great example of an activity that benefits full body wellness because it combines physical exercise and deep breathing meditation.
