Activists protest in Hubballi after alleged temple stone-pelting incident

Members of Pro-Hindutva organisations staged a protest at Indi-Pump Circle in Old Hubballi demanding action against persons who allegedly pelted stones on a temple at Janglipet.

Protest withdrawn after Police assurance

Following an incident of alleged stone pelting on a temple in Old Hubballi, members of Pro-Hindutva organisation resorted to snap protest and surrounded the Old Hubballi Police Station seeking arrest of the accused.

The alleged incident took place at Janglipet in Old Hubballi. According to the residents, a few young boys deliberately pelted stones at the Basavanna Temple.

After inquiring, it was found that a few young boys were trying to chase away a dog and the stones accidentally fell in the temple premises. Activists contended that the act was deliberate.

Tension gripped the area with members of Pro-Hindutva organisations gathering at Indi-Pump circle to stage a ‘rasta roko’. Sitting on dharna they then burnt old tyres to register their protest. The protest went on for over an hour. The protest was withdrawn after assurances by the Police.
