Sindh Minority Migrants Seek Humanitarian Intervention from Shri Shankarlal Lalwani M.P. (Lok Sabha)

A delegation of Pakistani Hindu migrants, currently residing in Gujarat, met  Respected Shri Shankarlal Lalwani MP on 23rd July 2025 in New Delhi, submitting a passionate plea for special visa provisions for Pakistani Hindu girls who are married to Indian citizens but are stranded in Pakistan due to the suspension of visa services.

The delegation comprised Shri Rajesh Maheshwari, President of the Sindh Minority Migrants Association,Dr. Harsh Harani leading orthodontist Dr. Om Parkash Kachoriya, senior pediatrician, and Dr. Manoj Chandani,Shri Jawaharlal Jeswani, Shri Dilip Dhirani, Shri Anil Karmani, Shri Subhash Rathi community leaders. They presented a memorandum requesting MP Shri Shankarlal Lalwani to recommend their case to Hon’ble External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, seeking urgent intervention on humanitarian grounds.

Divided Families, Broken Marriages

Due to ongoing visa suspensions at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, numerous Hindu girls married to Indian citizens are unable to obtain visas to join their husbands in India. Many of these applications are being returned without processing, leaving the young brides stranded in highly unsafe conditions in Pakistan, especially in Sindh province where Hindu minorities face systemic religious persecution.

The delegation highlighted that these are lawful marriages, yet the brides are left to fend for themselves in a country where Hindu girls are routinely abducted, raped, forcibly converted, and married off to their abductors.

Alarming Situation in Sindh

A shocking recent case was cited from Shahdadpur, Sindh, where four Hindu siblings — Jia Bai (22), Dia Bai (20), Disha Bai (16), and Harjeet Kumar (13) — were abducted and forcibly converted. Their mother has accused a local schoolteacher of orchestrating the abduction, underscoring the deep-rooted nexus of radical elements and state complicity in these crimes. More than 1,000 Hindu girls are reportedly abducted each year in Pakistan, with little to no justice.

Gratitude to the Indian Leadership

The delegation expressed sincere appreciation to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his leadership and consistent empathy for persecuted Hindu minorities from neighboring countries. They referred to his landmark statement at the Jammu rally on 3rd February 2019:

> “There are many children of Maa Bharti

who have faced persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh…

We will stand with those who were part of India at one time,

but got separated from us due to the Partition in 1947.”

The Delegation’s Key Requests

  1. Issue special humanitarian visas to Pakistani Hindu girls who are married to Indian citizens and currently separated due to lack of access to visa processing.
  2. Grant long-term visas or refugee status to Hindu girls and families fleeing persecution and seeking safety or marriage in India.
  3. Enable emergency visa processing at Indian embassies in other countries (e.g., Nepal, UAE) for life-threatening or urgent family reunification cases.

A Humanitarian Cause Beyond Borders

“These daughters of Sindh are daughters of India too. It is not just about visas, but about restoring dignity and safety to young women who look to Bharat for protection,” said Shri Rajesh Maheshwari, leading the delegation.

The members appealed to Shri Shankarlal Lalwani to elevate this matter within the Government and Ministry of External Affairs, emphasizing that India must act swiftly to protect these vulnerable women from further victimization and reunite them with their husbands and families in India.
