New Delhi: In what could be a huge embarrassment for the Congress in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections, party’s Saharanpur candidate Imran Masood has threatened to kill Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
A video has surfaced showing Masood addressing a gathering and claiming to chop Modi into pieces. Masood is also seen saying that Uttar Pradesh is not Gujarat, claiming that there is only 4 per cent Muslim population in Gujarat while there is 22 per cent Muslim population in UP.
“UP is not Gujarat. There is only 4 per cent Muslim population in Gujarat but in UP there are 22 per cent Muslims here. I will fight against Narendra Modi because I know how to give a fitting reply to him. We will cut him into pieces,” Masood is heard saying in the video.
The Election Commission has now sought details of Masood’s speech. The SDM has been asked to submit the video of the speech.
The election officer has said that further action will be taken after studying the video.
