A Mass Chanting for World Peace: Guinness World Records recognizes His Holiness Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji for Creating World History

At a time of constant turmoil, mass killings, and natural disasters happening in different parts of the world, His Holiness Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, pontiff of the Avadhoota Datta Peetham of Mysore, India led a mass chanting session on January 31st, 2015 in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh in India for the benefit of world peace. This mammoth effort, aimed at benefiting all beings and the atmosphere, has been aptly recognized by the “Guinness World Records.”
Leading the effort, Sri Swamiji clearly explained the merits of the chant and the virtues of repeatedly chanting the sacred verses. In the process, the 9th chant was recognized as the Guinness World Record attempt by the official adjudicator Ms. Fortuna Burke, who supervised the entire event. When the chanting continued a little over six minutes, Ms. Burke announced it as “the brand new world record in the category of mass chanting,” with 128,918 participants singing in unison. During the 27th and last chant, there were over 226,000 participants.
Witnessing the event with great interest, the Governor of Tamilnadu, His Excellency Sri K Rosaiah, later presented the Record Certificate from Guinness World Records to Sri Swamiji. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor expressed his utmost happiness about the event and praised the large gathering of people who turned out from different parts of the world.
The Hanuman Chalisa, authored by Sant Tulasidasji Maharaj, consists of 40 verses and is famous globally, especially since it is believed to fulfill desires of those who recite it. According to Sri Swamiji,
“Hanuman Chalisa is a very ancient prayer dating back over 500 years. This particular prayer is especially chosen for chanting since the collective sound vibrations will create positive impact thereby promoting universal brotherhood, and aiding in the well-being of the entire universe.” In recent times, scientific research has also revealed that sound waves formed while chanting are converted into electro-magnetic waves and potentially provide enormous positive impact on beings and atmosphere.
Sri Swamiji’s love and devotion to Lord Hanuman knows no bounds. Hanuman, affectionately known as the Lord of the Apes, destroys sins and creates pure happiness. For the benefit of people in the US, Sri Swamiji is overseeing a major temple construction that is currently underway in Dallas-Fort Worth. The Marakata Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple which will have the hanuman statue carved from a single stone of Marakata, or Emerald will be one of its kind outside India. Temples with
Marakata statue are renowned to bring protection and spiritual benefits to those who visit. In Trinidad, Sri Swamiji has installed an 85 feet Hanuman statue, the tallest one outside India, in the Datta temple. The temple attracts thousands of people from around the world to the small island nation every year.
Based in Mysore, Sri Swamiji has established many ashrams and is involved in spreading the message of peace around the world. Swamiji supports several social projects to help the downtrodden and has setup hospitals and schools in India to help the poor and needy. Importantly, his healing music concerts that are specially performed for spiritual energy transmission are always a treat to everyone. People around the world have received immense benefit from physical healing to spiritual guidance. Sri Swamiji has received praise and recognition for his work around the world. Recognizing Sri
Swamiji’s international stature, the US government has granted special O-visa status to him to travel and perform throughout the USA. Sri Swamiji has meticulously put together all his findings from his continuous research of therapeutic aspects of healing music and has released the English version named “Raaga Raagini Nada Yogam.” Sri Swamiji’s work often appears in newspapers and periodicals around the globe.
