Sanatan Sanstha and HJS participate in the procession !
Seekers of Sanatan Sanstha and activists of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) blew conch for welcoming the procession. HJS activists were holding banners and boards with enlightening matter written on them such as ‘It is wrong to create pollution at a place of pilgrimage’, ‘Maintain sanctity of ‘Kumbh-kshetra’ and ‘Keep Godavari bank clean’ etc. The banners with such matters were even displayed on vehicles participating in the procession.
Tryambakeshwar (Dist. Nasik) : On the occasion of Simhastha Parva, Shaiva, Vaishnava and other ‘akhadas’ and spiritual organizations are arriving in Kumbh-nagari. On 16th August, ‘Naga-Sadhus’ of ‘Niranjani Panchayati Akhada’, Mahants, Mahamandaleshwars, Acharyas, Sadhus and Saints came together and took out a huge procession with clarinet, trumpets, band and traditional musical instruments played in the background. The procession was taken out from Anand Akhada, Shri Tryambakeshwar Temple, Kushawart–teertha to ‘Niranjani Akhada’ in Kumbh-Mela. Thousands of devotees joined the procession; especially ‘Naga-Sadhus’ riding horses and carrying spears, swords, tridents etc. amidst acclamation of ‘Har Har Mahadev’.
900 years old traditional spears of ‘Niranjani Panchayati Akhada’ were ritualistically worshiped in the presence of Saints and Mahants in the morning at ‘Anand Akhada’. Mahant Narendragiriji Maharaj, all-India President of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad’ said, “Buddhists had established an empire in this country when Naga-Sadhus had fought against them, with the help of these spears. We have preserved them since then. On the occasion of ‘Peshwai’, we perform ‘puja’ of the spears and enter Kumbh-Mela camp by carrying them in procession.”
There were two saffron flags with 25-30 feet length and two ‘Naga-Sadhus’ on horse-backs carrying traditional spears leading the procession; followed with palanquins of Deities, group of ‘Naga-Sadhus’, Warakaris -‘Bhajani Mandal’, devotees carrying saffron flags and behind them, chariots of Mahants and Mahamandaleshwars decorated with flowers. Mahant Swami Nityanandgiri Maharaj, Mahant Swami Lalitanandgiriji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishnuteerthaji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vidyanandapuriji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Gajanandagiriji Maharaj, Mahamanmdaleshwar Swami Balakanandagiriji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Shri Shri 1008 Premalatagiri Sadhviji, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Hariompuriji and other Maharaj were riding on chariots.
