Says they labelled Hindu society as retrograde

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) State chief M. Radhakrishnan has said that the peculiar line of thought in Kerala is that when Christians or Muslims unite, it is to strengthen those communities; but when Hindus unite, it is for destroying the minority communities.

“Such a psyche acts as a major stumbling block for Hindu unity,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said while delivering the keynote address at the district-level Hindu Mahasammelanam organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) here on Sunday. He said that another challenge Hindu society faced was to enlighten them on the need for unity.

One of the root causes for such a situation was the success of the so-called progressive forces in labelling Hindu society as retrograde. The Hindu society was pictured by the communists as a community rife with superstitions and unethical practices.

But the fact was that it was the Hindu sanyasis and not the communists who triggered progressive thinking and reformation in the State. Unfortunately even the educated classes believed that the communists brought progressive ideas. “Now large sections have started realising that the communists had misguided Kerala society,” he said. Chairman of the programme Biju Parameswaran presided. Former melshanti of Sabarimala temple Brahmashree N. Balamurali inaugurated the conference by lighting a traditional lamp. VHP district secretary C.S. Sylendrababu welcomed the gathering.
