Balinese Hindu devotees carry a 'Pratima'

Balinese Hindu devotees carry a ‘Pratima’, symbol of God during a purification festival called ‘Melasti’ at a beach in Sanur, Bali, Indonesia on 23 March 2009. Hindus hold the ceremony to clean their souls before celebrating Nyepi Day, the Balinese Day of Silence, that marks Balinese Hindu new year on 26 March. During The Nyepi Day Hindus on the island of Bali are not allowed to travel, work, light lamps, cook or do any other activities.
