vhp-imgAlleging that the flooding of Chinese products in the market has emerged as a threat to Indian companies Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Pravin Togadia on Wednesday demanded the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government’s intervention to counter China’s “economic aggression”.

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata Mr. Togadia said that the dumping of Chinese products has put Indian industries especially the steel and small scale industries on the verge of closure.

“Centre should take serious note of Chinese economic aggression,” the VHP leader said, adding that if immediate steps are not taken to counter this Chinese “economic aggression” these industries will collapse and lakhs will be rendered unemployed.

“The Centre should ban the Chinese products,” Mr. Togadia said pointing out that dumping of Chinese products has created problems for Indian steel and small scale Industries.

Asked whether the government should impose a higher import duty on Chinese products, the VHP leader said that it is for the Centre to decide how to stop the influx of Chinese goods.

Illegal infiltration creating pressure on country’s resources

Raising the issue of “illegal migration” from Bangladesh Mr Togadia said that there are three crore “ infiltrators” from Bangladesh settled in different parts of the country whose presence is creating pressure on the country’s resources.

Despite raising the issue of “ illegal migration” the VHP was soft on State’s ruling All India Trinamool Congress and said that Bengal should not be “singled out” as foreign influx is happening in other states in the country like Assam.

Mr Togadia has in the past being critical of the AITC but chose to remain silent when the BJP is accusing the State’s ruling party of creating a safe haven of terrorist in the State after the October 2 blasts at Burdwan town.

“The need is to rise against political concerns and take steps in the nation’s interest and expel these infiltrators,” he added.
