VARANASI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will get a world class state-of-the-art R&D centre and central drug testing laboratory.
This announcement was made by drug controller general of India (DCGI) Gyanendra Nath Singh at the inaugural function of two-day all-India Pharma conclave-SPIRIT-2014 organised by the department of pharmaceutics on Monday.
A seminar on ‘Challenges and opportunities and futuristic trends in pharmacy education’ was also held on the occasion.
Addressing the function, Singh, who is an alumnus of BHU, recalled his old college days and exhorted students to move towards entrepreneurship.
India is exporting drugs to 220 countries and thus need more pharmacy students to join the industry.
Speaking on the occasion, vice-president of a reputed pharmaceutical company emphasized the need to improve current curriculum of pharmacy education so that students are ready to cater to the needs of industry.
Poster presentation, case study, literary events and model making will be held at SPIRIT-2014.
