Banaras Hindu University to introduce V-C’s award for excellence today

VARANASI: The 96th convocation of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will witness the introduction of Vice Chancellor’s Award for excellence in research on Thursday.

A total of 10,755 graduate, post graduate students and PhD and MPhil scholars will receive their degrees on the occasion.

Giving this information to reporters, the BHU VC Lalji Singh, on Wednesday, informed that eminent astrophysicist Padma Vibhushan Jayant Vishnu Narlikar will be the chief guest of convocation ceremony.

The director general of The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) Rajendra Kumar Pachauri will be honoured with DSc Honoris Causa for his outstanding contribution in the field of environment and energy issues all around the world.

During the convocation, 10,755 degrees including 506 of PhD, 31 of MPhil, 4,065 of post graduation and 6,153 of graduation will be conferred on students and scholars.

The event will be organized on Amphitheater Ground. The V-C also highlighted other achievements of academic session on this occasion
