City turns devotional on Hanuman Jayanthi

Ujjain: The city where every day is observed as a festival, witnessed the panoramic celebrations on Tuesday, as people from all walks of life thronged to have darshan of their favourite deity. All the Hanuman temples situated in the city were decked with special ornamentation and long queues of devotees were seen.

16420141510812-largeHanuman Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman. It is usually celebrated on the 15th day of the Chaitra month according to the Hindu calendar. Devout Hindus thronged to temples on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman and enthusiastically participated in the festivities.

Festival was celebrated with religious fervour at various temples in the city, to mark the day since lord Hanuman was an ardent devotee of Lord Rama.Devotees offered prayers and chanted hymns in praise of Lord Hanuman and offered flowers and sweets before the deity.

Every Hanuman temple in the city was decorated mesmerizingly with fancy lights, flowers, etc. Prominent city temples organised Sundarkand and mass recital of Hanuman Chalisa.Ghanshyam Sharma, temple priest of Mangal Murti Hanuman temple, told that idol of Lord Hanuman was consecrated early morning and adorned beautifully. A Mahaarti was performed in the evening along with the Bhog.

Heavy rush of devotees prevailed at prime temples including Gebi Hanuman, Mayapathi Hanuman, Mangal Murthi, Uttaramukhi Hanuman at Ankpat Marg, Khade Hanuman at Sarafa, Balveer at Nai Peth, Baba Bal Hanuman at Mahakaleshwar temple and others. As the day moves to dusk, devotees took out procession which accompanied with attractive tableaux, live bands and devotees dancing on the devotional numbers.
