1. Bhagvad Gita Scholarship for Middle School and High School students
The Bhagvad Gita Sanatan Dharma Scholarship aims to promote independent research, focusing on the rational foundation and the teachings of the Bhagvad Gita. The scholarship offers multiple learning opportunities based on age and education level. Eligibility for the scholarship is extended to any student who is currently enrolled in the United States education system at the middle school and high school levels.

The Coalition of Hindu Youth (CHY) is proud to announce the Swami Dayananda Saraswati Sanatan Dharma Scholarship to recognize exceptional undergraduates who have actively contributed to the promotion of Hindu spiritual practices in their communities. Under the program, four scholarships of $500 each will be awarded towards their educational goals.

Sanatan Dharma Scholarship for College undergraduates
The Coalition of Hindu Youth (CHY) is proud to announce the Swami Dayananda Saraswati Sanatan Dharma Scholarship to recognize exceptional undergraduates who have actively contributed to the promotion of Hindu spiritual practices in their communities. Under the program, four scholarships of $500 each will be awarded towards their educational goals.
About Swamiji
Swami Dayananda Saraswati (1930–2015) dedicated his life to ensuring the continuance of Hindu spiritual practices. These practices, which have existed for millennia, are even more relevant in modern times, hence the need to raise the awareness. Swamiji established the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam (Vedanta institute) at Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, initiated several courses and wrote books to impart teachings of the Vedas (Vedanta) and Hindu Values in a lucid manner.
Scholarship Guidelines & Priorities:
- Seeking graduating seniors who are planning to attend a two (2)-year community college or four (4)-year college or university.
- Applications must be received no later than Aug. 15th, 2017.
- Winner will be announced and scholarship funds will be paid during the month of September at the Hindu Mandir Executives’ Conference 2017 in Indianapolis.

- A one paragraph summary of your community service work during current academic year
- Copy of transcript (official or unofficial)
- Write an essay (max 1500 words) answering the questions below:

- Topic: Beginnings of Swami Dayananda Saraswati’s journey – Applicants should research Swami Dayananda Saraswati’s early years and talk about what/who inspired and influenced him to follow this spiritual path at such a young age. This essay should not include what he has done in later part of his life, just his spiritual quest and what led him to the path of a young sanyasi including notable incidences and mentors. References/citations should be listed.

Bhagvad Gita Sanatan Dharma Scholarship
For Middle and High school students
The Bhagvad Gita Sanatan Dharma Scholarship aims to promote independent research, focusing on the rational foundation and the teachings of the Bhagvad Gita.
The Bhagvad Gita is a well-known Hindu spiritual text that is universally accepted not just for its sanctity, but also as a guide for day-to-day life i.e. “a handbook of life.” Messages from Bhagvad Gita such as: “Inaction in action and action in inaction,” are within the reach of common seeker of all ages.
The scholarship offers multiple learning opportunities based on age and education level. Eligibility for the scholarship is extended to any student who is currently enrolled in the United States education system at the middle school and high school levels.
AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
- High School Level – 3 scholarships, $201 each
- Middle School Level – 3 scholarships, $151 each
HOW DOES SCHOLARSHIP WORK?
- Specific Gita Shlokas will be given to participants as per age group
- They are required to memorize Shlokas and understand the meaning
- There will be a Video conference/interview with short listed candidates on diction and meaning of Shlokas
- Winners will be announced via email / website
TO APPLY
- Fill out and submit scholarship application available on hinduscholarship.org
- One paragraph summary of your community service work from the current academic year.
- A transcript (official or unofficial) or report card
- A recorded audio of your shloka recitation in mp3 format (memorize and recite from memory) – download Gita Shlokas using link below
- Write the meaning of ‘each individual’ shloka separately and relate it to your own personal experience. If you are unable to relate the meaning to your personal life, you can ask someone else and use their example. It must be a real-life example.
- Submission deadline is 15th August 2017.
About CHY
Coalition of Hindu Youth (CHY) is formed to ensure the sustenance and prosperity of the Hindu community and institutions. CHY aims to network and unite the youth groups at all the temples, and even those groups independent of temples, across the continent. It is a project of World Hindu Council of America (VHPA).
