Derogatory Graffiti Targeting Hindus Found in Loudoun County

0923-graffitiPolice are investigating a series of vandalism cases, some of which contain discriminatory language against Hindus.
Vidya Nair said she was walking along an Ashburn trail with her kids this week when she noticed hateful graffiti, reading, “No Hindus Allowed.”
“I didn’t expect to see that there,” Nair said. “This is a very diverse place. What’s the point in hating? There’s no point… first of all, it’s vandalism!”
Loudoun County Sheriff Michael Chapman said there have been several other reports of vandalism in the county since July in Ashburn — in the areas of Northstar Boulevard at Amberg Grove Terrace, Morning Walk Drive at Winter Haven Drive, and Ryan Road at Forest Manor Drive.
“It’s disappointing to see this,” Chapman said. “It’s a lack of understanding of cultural diversity and it is something we have to really understand and embrace. We’re taking this incident very, very seriously and we’re going to look into all aspects of it.”
The Brambleton Homeowners Association is offering a $500 reward for information on who is responsible for the vandalism.
Anyone with information is asked to call 571-246-4156 or e-mail Roy.Ortutay@loudoun.gov. Those who want to remain anonymous may call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919.
