Devout Hindus brave Ganges River chill

VARANASI, India (NBC/RTV) – Devout Hindus in India braved the chill of the Ganges River to take a holy dip Wednesday.

As the sun rose, people performed religious rituals on the banks of the Ganges River and offered prayers.

The eleventh day of the Hindu lunar calendar is considered auspicious because it marks the beginning of the wedding season.
