The Union home ministry has asked the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to provide ‘X’ category security to four Punjab Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionaries. Sources said that intelligence reports warning of possible attacks on Rameshwar Dass (Ludhiana), Pramod (Amristar,) Ramgopal (Jalandhar) and Kuldeep Ji Bhagat (Jalandhar) has prompted the move that comes after RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja’s murder in Jalandhar.

The CISF is responsible for security of the offices of chief ministers of Hayana and Punjab along with ministers and top bureaucrats.

In Delhi, the CISF presence at the RSS office has been increased as well. “Security personnel have been instructed to properly screen and search visitors before allowing them into the Jhandewalan office,’’ said an officer. “RSS office bearers have been asked to be cautious and alert. Police patrolling in the area has also been increased.’’
