Heavy rush at Vaishno Devi on the first Day of Navratri

“VAN”, Arjun Sharma, Jammu :: Navratri or the nine sacred days of the goddesses marks the most auspicious days in the lunar calendar followed by Hindus. These nine days are celebrated with fervour all over north India and many people fast during the 9 day period reducing their diets to just fruits or a single meal a day. There are those who do not fast but stop the consumption of onions and garlic during the nine day period dedicated solely to Maa Durga (goddess Durga) and her nine avatars.
