The Cayman Islands is a rich melting pot of cultures from around the world, and people from a variety of backgrounds joined in local celebrations for the Hindu festival of lights or Diwali. As many as 300 people attended Diwali celebrations over the weekend at the St Ignatius Loyola Hall.
The night featured dancing, singing and gifts for children of all ages, as well as traditional Indian meals. Those behind the event say it was a time for togetherness.
Ummi Kapoor says the event also had a large turn out from non-Indian nationals, and was a great night of cultural exchange.
