Hindu Munnani today sought transfer of the case relating to murder of its spokesperson C Sasikumar in September 2016 to CBI, alleging that the State CB-CID had failed to achieve any major breakthrough in it.
Sasikumar was killed by a motorcycle-borne four-member gang on the night of September 22, when he was going home, triggering a communal flare-up the next day during the funeral procession.
Protesting the delay in nabbing the culprits, about 500 Hindu Munnani workers staged a demonstration in the city today and condemned the ‘tardy progress’ of the case.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the protest, Munnani’s Tamil Nadu president Kadeswara Subramania said since CB-CID, the investigating agency, had failed to achieve any breakthrough,it was high time the case was transferred to CBI.
He alleged that law and order situation in the State was deteriorating, due to administrative lapses, because of factional feuds in the ruling party.
