Hindu’s in Pakistan

Af-Pak-map

The recent wave of violence in Larkana, Hyderabad, Badin and now the Tharparkar District has doubled the worries of the Hindu community. Thirty-three percent of the population of Tharparkar is non-Muslim. All religions have lived together in communal harmony and peaceful coexistence for centuries in this area. The recent gruesome attack on a temple must not only be condemned strongly but the culprits should also be brought to book.

Why are our minorities hurt and targeted this way time and again? I remember Khushwant Singh once said that the cause of disintegration and vulnerability in the Subcontinent is its religious bigotry. I have witnessed myself the brain drain that has taken place in Pakistan – of rich and intellectual Hindus – due to law-and-order insecurities.
