Hindus now being uprooted from Sunamgonj , Bangladesh – Bangladesh Minority Watch steps in to help

Some Hindu families uprooted from their dwelling houses at Rawli Village within Chhatak Upazila of Sunamgonj District. Their belongings have been looted, More than 100 trees uprooted, gold ornaments including wearing clothes were stolen, Hindu deities destroyed on 22.03.15.by Muslim perpetrators. A group of Human Rights Activists from Dhaka (Bangladesh Minority Watch) visited the spot, took statements of victims, talked with occupants of Hindu houses on 30th March,15. Hindu victims cried for restoration of their possession as the land grabbers during status quo order passed by Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Local police kept silent despite information given to police for their safety and protection.

BANGLADESH MINORITY WATCH investigating the matter locally and will submit fact finding report very soon. We condemn this barbarous attack on minority HINDUS for forceful occupation of Hindu dwelling houses within Chhatak Upazila. BDMW helped lodging F.I.R., at Chhatak police station of Sunamgonj District on 30.03.2015. Many national and local newspapers including print media focused the painful incident of land grabbing.
