Hindus urged to mark important day

The Shree Pretoria Hindu Seva Samaj (SPHSS) will be celebrating Hanuman Chalisa on Sunday 6 April. Devotees are encouraged to prepare for and take part in the religious event.Hanuman Chalisa, the president of the SPHSS, Mr Ramesh Chhagan said: “Hanuman Chalisa is a very powerful devotional work that has been left to posterity by Goswami Tulsidas whose devotional work, TulsiRâmâyana (orRama-CharitaManas), has revolutionised the Bhakti movement by enabling the common man to recite the glorious legend of Shri Rama in his native tongue.”Chhagan added:

“The Hanuman Chalisa highlight the quintessential role that Shri Hanumanji plays in the Râmâyana, one of our foremost Itihâsic texts. Hanuman Chalisa praises Lord Hanuman, the Foremost Devotee of Lord Shri Rama. Shri Hanuman is the epitome of Selfless Service, Courage, Humble disposition, and Bhakti all rolled into one.”Hanuman, the Shri Hanuman, is a central hero of the Ramayana. Widely worshipped by Hindus, he represents “the faith that can move mountains.” His fame is extolled in the Hanuman Chalisa, a composition of 40 verses.
