Hndu Groups vehemently protest against UP Govt. apathy

LUCKNOW: Three persons were detained by the police for attempting self-immolation near the chief minister’s residence on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred during a protest by Hindu Mahasabha party workers against police inaction in murder cases that took place in Tanda last year. Vishwa Hindu Vahini leader Rambabu Gupta and his nephew Ram Mohan were shot dead by assailants in March and December respectively. The family pointed fingers towards local SP MLA and his supporters.

More than 50 workers assembled near Golf Club crossing and raised slogans against the ruling government. The group then marched towards the CM’s residence carrying plastic bottles. The security personnel deployed on the stretch informed cops and soon additional force arrived at the scene.

Kamlesh Tiwari and Mohit Mishra on spotting police personnel opened up a plastic bottle and poured kerosene on themselves. The khaki-clad resorted to canecharge and in the melee a barricade put up on the road leading to Kalidas Marg got damaged. Vehicular movement also got affected on the stretch.

Circle officer of Hazratganj area Dinesh Yadav said that three persons were arrested and booked under IPC charges 309 (suicide attempt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) besides Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
