All over the world, Hindus celebrated the Spring festival of Holi, known locally as Phagwa, by painting each other in bright colors, distributing sweets and squirting water at one another.

The holiday, which celebrated mainly in India and Nepal, as well as in the Indian diaspora, marks the beginning of spring and the triumph of good over evil.

In osme places, bonfires were burned overnight, and on Monday, Hindus threw colored, dry powder and water in celebration.

Locally, some Phagwa celebrations took place at the Antilles Trace Recreation Grounds, Penal on Sunday.

Among those taking part in the joyful celebrations was Oropouche West MP Stacy Roopnarine.
