Fuelled by immigration, America’s Hindu population has reached 2.23 million, an increase of about one million or 85.8 per cent since 2007, making Hinduism the fourth-largest faith, according to an extensive new survey by the Pew Research Center.

At the same time, the Christian share of the US population is declining. Moreover, the number of US adults who do not identify with any organised religion is growing.

These changes are taking place across the religious landscape, affecting all regions of the country and many demographic groups.
