Two days after Pope Francis wound up his three-day visit to Kenya, a high-profile Hindu religious leader has arrived in the country.

The Pope left the country on Friday.

His Divine Holiness Acharya Maharaj arrived at the Mombasa International Airport on Monday morning from India.

Maharaj said he has brought a message of peace and harmony to Kenya.

Maharaj will be in Kenya for seven days – three in Mombasa and four in Nairobi.

He was welcomed by Hindu leaders and businessmen, among them Sanghani Kaburu.

Maharaj said “I’m here to pray for this nation, its citizens and the leaders”.

He said he has brought a message of peace.

Maharaj’s convoy of more than 10 top-of-the-range vehicles left the airport for Mombasa central business district under tight security.

The convoy was escorted by two police outriders.

Maharaj is expected to hold several prayer sessions and meetings with the Hindu community.
