To,

The Union Minister HRD

(Shri Prakash Javadekar)

Subject: Is Not Education Free In India?

Dear Sir,

This has been our understanding but, we learn most of the schools, especially non-governmental schools, charge high fees for teaching.

We know of cases when the parents of the children are required to pay quite a large amount for the school uniforms that are to be stitched as per the rules laid down by the government school.

Sir, the above information which known to many in the country, is very very bad. We do hope you would not mind these strong words.

The financial burden on parents, especially belonging to lower income group parents, is very heavy. When the middle income group or higher income group people could possibly afford it.

As the matter of fact a few years back we had brought it to the notice of the Union Government that the education was then Rs. 4000 cr. industry. The situation must have deteriorated still further.

Well, Sir, we would with all the strength at our command, will humbly urge you to ensure the education in the country is free.

As matter of fact, our understanding is one can do even Phd free of cost. Is this not true? According to the instruction of Government of India, this is true. Of course, the student concerned will have to pass the necessary tests.

Sir, we again humbly urge you to MAKE EDUCATION FREE in the country. Let our students in India be educated!

Vandemataram,

Yours sincerely,

D.C. Nath
