Mangalore, Feb 11: “Over the last few days, the situation in Ullal has worsened. Fishermen folk of the Hindu community are living in fear, and people are facing injustice. Miscreants have wrecked boats of fishermen and pelted stones at their houses. Hindus have no security. The government and the police are taking biased decisions,” said Sri Vishweshatirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.

The Swamiji was addressing the media after the saints and religious leaders’ convention held at Sanganiketan here on Tuesday February 11.

“It is a painful incident. We do not have any grudge against any community. The government should take proper action against the miscreants. For the purpose of promoting peace and to offer solace to victims all religious heads in the coastal area will go to Ullal on February 13 at around 4 pm,” he announced.

He added, “As religious heads it is our responsibility to offer solace to the sufferers belonging to the Hindu religion.”

Answering questions posed by journalists the Pejwar Swamiji said, “We are not going there to provoke anyone or to ‘pour oil on fire’ but to extinguish the fire. Our intention is to spread peace in society. If people from the minority community want to join us in the peace mission, we welcome them.”
