Dr. Subramanian Swamy is a former cabinet minister of India who has taught at Harvard, served on several national and international high-level committees and panels, and is widely acclaimed in India as a leading commentator and politician.
Rajiv Malhotra is the author of several books, and a believer in the importance of Sanatana Dharm (Hinduism) and its contributions to the world. Rajiv is famous for taking on the western colonial elite at their own game, and highlighting the myriad ways in which the western elite not only subjugate their own people, but also play a major subversive role in developing nations like India. He brilliantly argues how Western colonialism and religious exclusiveness ultimately make humanity culturally poorer, and create violent conflicts that can put our very existence at risk.
Both of these eminent persons are provocative, thoroughly entertaining, and will greatly enhance the quality of discussion and discourse at Oxford, and will truly make the student body think about their own role in this world. They will show the Oxford community how it has thus far been colonized by its own elite, including through religious traditions that falsely claim an exclusive path to salvation.
It is a shame that some group calling itself “Oxford students” is trying to muzzle these two eminent scholars with a completely frivolous petition calling for them to be dis-invited from speaking at Oxford. These gentlemen must be heard, and the Oxford community must be allowed to make up its own mind after hearing their excellent, well-argued views. Please sign this petition to show your support for welcoming Dr. Swamy and Mr. Malhotra to Oxford.
