Rs 226cr to be spent on Silvassa Civil Hospital

SURAT: There is some good news for the residents of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The ministry of healthand family welfare has approved the upgradation and expansion of the existing Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital at Silvassa to a multi-speciality hospital.In a letter issued to the authorities of Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital on Tuesday, the hospital section of the ministry of health and family welfare sanctioned Rs 226.08 crore for the upgradation of the hospital in the financial year 2013-14.

Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital, Silvassa was earlier known as Cottage Hospital. It was started in the year 1952 with minimum OPD services and indoor facility.

This hospital after renovation was named as “Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital, Silvassa, and re-dedicated to the people on June 1, 1999.

A senior officer in the health department said, “The civil hospital will become a multi-speciality hospital with the infusion of funds amounting to Rs 226 crore. The residents could hope of getting all medical-related services under one roof.”
