RSS leader’s murder: youth held after 15 years

RSS December 14, 2015: The Crime Branch on Sunday arrested a youth in connection with the murder of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Rajappan, 45, of Karalam, near here.

Vinod, 38, who is also an RSS activist, was held by a team led by Crime Branch Homicide and Hurt Wing Detective Inspector V.K. Raju.

The murder took place 15 years ago on October 10, 2000.

The police had named Rajeesh Mupparathy as the accused in the case so far.

Armed with iron rod and sword, Vinod along with Rajappan, went to attack Rajeesh, who allegedly created a commotion during the conduct of the wedding of Vinod’s sister.

Both attacked Rajeesh. However, Rajeesh managed to run from the scene. Vinod tried to stab Rajeesh. But in the dark, he unknowingly stabbed Rajappan instead of Rajeesh, who managed to escape.

Vinod also escaped from the scene.

Vinod told the police that Rajeesh stabbed Rajappan.

Sword recovered

However, the police unearthed the sword of Vinod with bloodstains. During the investigation Vinod admitted to the crime.
