RSS new uniform by Vijayadashmi likely

Varanasi: Focusing on slums of Dalits and tribal population, the Kashi Prant unit of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh claimed that it has succeeded in beginning ‘shakhas’ in 149 slums out of 306 in 24 districts of this region in the past two years. The RSS office-bearers clarified that the cadre will have to wait till Vijayadashmi to get their new ‘ganvesha’ (uniform) as the process of finalizing colour of trousers replacing khaki knickers has not been done so far.
Back after attending the recent Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Baithak of RSS at Nagaur in Rajsthan, Kashi Prant unit Pranth Karvah Banke Lal told reporters on Sunday that in a year, the number of RSS ‘shakhas’ has reached 56,859 from 51,335. In Kashi Pranth, 79 new ‘shakhas’ have come up in the period and now total number of ‘shakhas’ in the unit has become 2,297. Admitting that the dalits are still maintaining some distance from RSS, he said that the Sangh is holding Seva Karya in 1,52,388 slums across the country.
In Kashi Prant, RSS has succeeded in beginning 149 shakhas in 306 slums of region while Seva Karya is continuing in 72. RSS expects that number of shakhas in slums of this region would touch 200 by the end of year. He said that RSS has decided for year-long celebration to mark the 1000th birth anniversary of Ramanujacharya and 125th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar, who struggled to end the social barriers between castes.
Regarding availability of new uniform for cadre, Banke Lal said that despite taking a decision to replacing khaki knickers by trousers, the RSS has not succeeded in finalizing its colour. Process of finalizing the colour is expected to be completed soon after which the prescribed trousers of new RSS uniform will be made available in its ‘vastu bhandars’ (stores). The RSS will introduces new trousers in various ranges to enable the volunteers, purchase it as per needs. The RSS cadre will look in their new ‘ganvesha’ on next foundation day celebration on Vijayadashmi.
He further informed that a total of 1,12,520 people between 13 years and 40 years have joined RSS in the past one year. In Kashi Prant unit, he said, the number of newly joined volunteers is 2,127. Highlighting other resolutions and decision of Nagaur meeting, Lal said that RSS is pledged for the construction of a temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and expecting that Supreme Court’s decision would also come in the favour of temple. Clarifying stand of RSS on the quota issue, he said that the organization is in favour of quota till social disparity exists.
