BSP Politician Offers Charlie Hebdo ​Al-Quaida Islamic ​Attackers ’51-Crore Reward’

MEERUT:  Haji Yakoob Qureshi, a former lawmaker from the Bahujan Samaj Party or BSP in Uttar Pradesh, has offered a 51-crore reward for the gunmen who attacked the office of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris killing 12 people. 
 
While announcing the reward Qureshi reportedly told journalists in Meerut that people who disrespect Prophet Mohammed must be punished. 
 
Qureshi was suspended from the BSP in 2011 for anti-party activities.

 In 2006, he had announced a similar reward for anyone who beheaded a Danish cartoonist who had drawn a controversial cartoon of the Prophet.    
 
After shooting people dead, the Charlie Hebdo attackers shouted “we have avenged the prophet”, witnesses have said.  One has surrendered while two others, brothers, are still absconding.
 
Known for its biting satire, the left-leaning newspaper had continued to publish cartoons and caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad, defying the French government’s advice in 2012.
