PHA distribution of groceries , other basic food items such as milk
powder, medicines, medical items and wheelchairs to 100 plus Single
Mothers, Needy Families, Senior Citizens Homes, Orphanages, poor
patients in hospital and medical items for the hospital. On the
humanitarian ground, PHA was also able to extend help to refugees and
jobless foreign workers stranded in Penang Island and on the Mainland
with basic necessities to families of all races.
Specifically, we rendered help to the following members of our society:
To medically unfit poor families which needed cooked food, we
provided packed lunch to them.
We extended our help when came across needy parents and single mothers
who have run out of money and groceries. They are struggling to
provide basic needs and care for their young children and elderly
parents.
Though some of these families receive regular food rations for daily
sustenance but they are unable to purchase or afford milk powder for
their young ones. Many of the lactating mothers are malnourished
themselves or medically unwell and therefore are unable to breastfeed
their children.
Living from hand to mouth, most distressing is to find malnourished
babies and young children having only one meal per day. There are also
infants who are being fed with black coffee, tea sweetened condensed
milk and rock sugar drink instead of milk. These are children whose
parents cannot afford to buy any formula milk powder.
PHA, with your generous support, has come forward to supply groceries,
packed lunch and milk powder for infants/children and bed-ridden
senior citizens of the hardcore poor families in Penang Island,
Butterworth, Bukit Mertajam, Kulim and Sungai Petani.
We feel that as human beings, it is our responsibility to help the
most vulnerable amongst us in their time of need.
This help was only made possible with the kind assistance given by the
public and well-wishers in the form of foodstuff and cash donations.

your generosity in helping the needy families manage their lives
during these very trying times.
