Hindu Unity Day in New York — A Historic Success

Report by Narain Kataria in New York

The 19th Hindu Unity Day (Hindu Sangathan Divas) was celebrated  with pomp, position, dignity, enthusiasm  and grandeur at the banquet Hall of “The Sterling” in New York on September 29th.

Hindu Unity Day is celebrated every year in New York in commemoration of the coronation of Ch. Shivaji Maharaj, the Hindu warrior king who, after demolishing Islamic domination, established Hindu kingdom in India in 1674.

Two top Hindu stalwarts from our Punya Bhoomi Bharat:  (i) Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev; and (ii) Dr. Subramanian Swamy, a senior leader of BJP, who have been spearheading the movement for reunification and consolidation of Hindu Society all over the world  along with several community leaders blessed and addressed the gathering.

At the end of the day, the Event proved to be fabulously stunning.  The performance of Baba Ramdev and Dr. Swamy, to say the least was,  not only astounding but also mesmerizing.  Unbelievably  it was a  memorable and splendid show which New York might not have seen ever before. The general mood of public and the atmosphere in the banquet hall  was simply electrifying.  The manner in which Hindus from India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Trinidad, Guyana and different states of India expressed their solidarity was highly inspiring. The energetic spirit of attendees who freely mingled with one another irrespective of the distinctions of caste, creed, color, language, gender and nationality  shattered the myth and debunked the obnoxious theories propounded by the prophets of doom that Hindus cannot be united.

The speeches from the speakers were thought provoking, and the patriotic songs were uplifting and reinvigorating. Dr. Subramanian Swamy, a true personification of the leadership qualities like courage, fearlessness and perseverance was the Keynote Speaker.  In his brilliant speech, Dr. Swamy time and again, so enthralled the audience with his forceful narration and outstanding arguments in support of the Hindu unity, that he received a frequent ovation from the audience.

Dr. Swamy projected that BJP along with its allies Shiv Sena and Akali Dal will gain absolute majority in India in 2014 elections.   About Pakistan he said that Pakistan could be tackled easily if we can neutralize China.  Talking about Rahul Gandhi,  Swamy expressed doubts about his political and mental competence.  Swamy also hailed the asset India has in the form of youngest population (average age 27 years).  Both on economy and electoral fortunes he actually turned the tables and placed the blame where it in reality belonged. He showed the audience the path and foot prints of upcoming success. His analysis of demographic alliances and fragments within the so called Muslim vote bank was on the mark.  As always he was a magnet for political thinkers.

Wow!  Baba Ram Dev Ji was at his best in tearing apart the three musketeers of the “mafia regime” Sonia, Manmohan and Rahul with utmost civility and gentle manner. The Baba said that with Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate, the BJP will get close to 300 seats.  He predicted that the BJP will have a cakewalk in the 2014 election.  After the elections, Congress Party will dismember, finally fulfilling the wish of Mahatma Gandhi.  “I will myself go to every nook and corner of the country to work for the victory of Narendra Modi and BJP. His oratory, humor, confident skill at effective delivery and spacing were an inescapable part of his master craft.

Mahamandaleshwar Swami Harishchandra Puri, chief priest of Shiv Shakti Peeth temple  in Queens, New York, inaugurated the Hindu Unity Day by blessing the audience and wishing them success in their endeavor. Dr Amrit Nehru,  one of the senior most Kashmiri Hindu activists born and brought up in Kashmir said that it is a matter of great regret and shame that  Hindus have to live in fear even after 65 years of country’s Independence.  You have heard about the ethnic cleansing, genocide and the mass murders of Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists in J&K during and after 1989 and the resultant exodus of more than seven lakh (seven hundred thousands) Hindus. This was for the 7th time during the modern history of Kashmir when Islamists drove Hindus out of Kashmir lock, stock and barrel. We had a time in history when tons of “Jennues” (sacred thread) were collected and burned after slaughtering thousands of Kashmiri Hindus.  During another time all Hindus were murdered, enslaved and forcibly converted to Islam and only 11 families were left who found shelter in the far-flung hills and forests to escape the slaughter.

Dr. Narinder Kukar, an outstanding physician, a statesman and a winner of several awards in his speech said that it is no time to be on the defensive, it is time to be on the offensive. He blamed  the trustees of Hindu temples and the Hindu religious leaders for their inaction and negligence in educating its followers and helping them in their- endeavor to achieve what is rightfully theirs. It should be their solemn duty to help Hindus as they draw their funds and power through the Hindu worshippers. They as keepers and leaders of Hindu faith should do everything within their power to ensure that Hindus should have equal rights in India.

Devendra Singh, Founder President of Hindi-USA, stated thatHindus should understand their civilization and western civilization by critically studying it.  Hindu unity must come not by slogans but by having more and more things in common.  Hindi can help bringing unity in Bhartiyas.  Rajiv Malhotra’s book ‘Being Different’ (Vibhinnata – Hindi version) should be read by all Bhartiyas.

M.R. Venkatesh, the  author of several books, including  “Dr. Manmohan Singh – A DECADE OF DECAY.” said that this book is a collection of his  articles in Rediff.com  over the past year or so.. The book demonstrates how UPA government by its systematic loot and scoot  policy has robbed India of her economic competitiveness, corroded institutions and suppressed human development indices. The Book is available in Kindle. Physical copies are available atwww.mrv.net.in
Ramabhadra Dasa –  President of ISKCON in New York  who was a Catholic  in  his college days   in his speech on the importance of Hindu Unity  urged   everyone to meditate on God  in whichever form the devotee  desires.

Swami Radeswarananda , spiritual disciple of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj-ji of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan of New York blessed the audience and emphasized the importance of Hindu Unity.

Earlier welcoming the audience, Narain Kataria, President of IAIF, said that  the feeling of brotherhood and patriotism unleashed by this Event will go a long way in further revitalizing and reenergizing  Hindu Samaj.    It is also a matter of great satisfaction that one billion Hindus have finally recognized the importance of Hindu Unity,  the idea whose time has come.  They are on the march.   They are not going to stop now till the goal is reached.

Arish Sahani, Vice President, IAIF proposed a vote of thanks. Priya Sahani Sood acted as an emcee.  Rajesh Gooty introduced Dr. Subramanian Swamy and Lalit Shorey sang patriotic songs.
