HinduPost is a digital media outlet that provides the true perspective on issues concerning Hindu society. It was launched on 14 January, 2016 on the occassion of Makar Sankranti, and this is the first newsletter containing all articles published in the last 2 weeks. Three convicts in the 2013 Kamduni gang-rape and brutal murder of 20-year-old college student Shipra Ghosh were on Saturday sentenced to death by a Kolkata city court, while three others got life imprisonment.
Additional Sessions Judge Sanchita Sarkar handed out a death sentence to ruling TMC party workers Ansar Ali, Saiful Ali and Aminul Ali, while Emanul Islam, Aminur Islam and Bhola Naskar were sentenced to life imprisonment for the gang-rape and murder of Shipra Ghosh on June 7, 2013.

A minor girl, 15 year old Twinkle Shaw, was raped, murdered and her body found dumped in a coal pit in Jamuria, Asansol, Bardhaman district of West Bengal on 26 January. The accused Mohammed Aftab Alam has been arrested by police after local people complained of police inaction.

In yet another instance of the Pakistani State approved persecution of Hindus in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Sindh High Court (Sindh is one of the 4 provinces or states of Pakistan, and home to majority of the Hindu population still surviving in Pakistan) allowed 15 year old ‘Shabana’, who was converted to Islam from Hindu Dharma and then ‘married’ to a Muslim man Ali Gul, to live with her ‘husband’.

What is the ‘controversy’ at Shani Shingnapur temple ?
This ‘controversy’ is related to the Shani mandir in Shani Shingnapur village, Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. This Hindu temple is dedicated to Shani (the devata or diety associated with the planet Saturn) who is said to be Swayambhu that is self emerged from earth in form of a black stone at this place. The temple authorities do not allow either men or women to climb the 9 steps to the Shani(idol). Everyone (man or woman) is allowed to enter the temple.
