KARACHI:
As the international theatre festival spreads art at the Hindu Gymkhana, the religious minority community also seeks the court’s permission to allow them spread the colours of Holi at their community centre.
On Thursday, Shri Ratneshwar Okha Mandli Mahadev, a group claiming to be a representative of the Hindu community in the province, made a request to the Sindh High Court to allow them celebrate Holi at the Gymkhana. A single bench, headed by Justice Azizur Rehman, was hearing a lawsuit by the National Performing Arts Academy against the notices issued by the Sindh government to vacate the premises, which were earlier leased out to it.
The representatives of the Shri Ratneshwar Okha Mandli Mahadve and the Justice Helpline, Ramesh Kumar and Nadeem Shaikh, moved an application to become an intervener.
Justice Rehman directed the intervener to file a rejoinder to the lawsuit instituted by Napa after which it would qualify to seek any interim relief. He adjourned the hearing till April 9.
