Indore (Madhya Pradesh) : Tiles with pictures of Hindu Deities were fixed in public places with a view to prevent people from throwing litter so as to keep the area clean. Devout Hindus brought it to the notice of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). HJS, therefore, gave a representation to Municipal Corporation of Indore and after that, such tiles have been removed.

On the walls of Nehru Garden and public lavatories, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) had fixed tiles with Hindu Deities’ pictures. Similar tiles were fixed even on walls near staircase of a huge building with similar purpose of preventing people from throwing trash and maintaining cleanliness in the area.

Shri. Yogesh Vhanmare, the State Coordinator of HJS for Madhya Pradesh (MP), along with office bearers and members of other Hindu organizations met the Dy. Municipal Commissioner, Sanghamitra Gautam in this context. It was explained to the Dy. Municipal Commissioner that ‘the place of Deities is in temples. Making their use for keeping place clean is improper and it has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus; therefore, such tiles should be immediately removed.’ IMC then removed tiles with Deities’ pictures from Nehru Garden and the other building.
