International group concerned for Hindu’s in Cook Islands

The head of an international organisation representing Hindus has called on the Cook Islands government to protect the rights of Hindu’s in the country.

This follows comments by Tutai Pere, Bishop of the Apostolic Church of the Cook Islands who recently opposed holding a public celebration of the Hindu festival of Diwali on Rarotonga.

He says this because Cook Islands is a Christian nation and the festival amounts to blasphemy.

Rajan Zed , President of Universal Society of Hinduism, based in the United States, says he has urged Cook islands leaders to ensure than the rights of Hindus to worship freely are protected.
