Lord Ganesha
Satara (Maharashtra) : A Jihadi youth desecrated idol of Sri Ganesha from ‘Samaj-Mandir’ in Burud Lane, Kasba Peth, Phalatan (Satara District) on 12th December. It created tension in Phalatan. Durab Suleiman Mahat is the name of a jihadi (Res. Baravbaug, Lakshminagar) who desecrated the idol. (Muslims are purposely denigrating seats of worship of Hindus to create disharmony. 1. On 12th December, at 9.00 a.m., Durab gashed trunk of the idol of Sri Ganesha with a stone damaging a part of the idol. The news spread in the town like fire.
2. Members of ‘Bal Shivaji Ganeshotsava’, ‘Navachaitanya Ganeshotsava Mandal’ and local devout Hindus rushed to the temple immediately and strongly condemned the incident.
3. Devout Hindus gathered near Samaj-Mandir area went to city police station and lodged a complaint against Durab Mahat. Shri. Sandip Pradip Dudhal (Resident of Burud Lane) lodged the complaint.
4. Phalatan police realizing the seriousness of the matter arrested Durab promptly for desecrating Shri Ganesha idol. The Court has granted him judicial custody.
