Undertrial Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists who were killed in an alleged encounter with the Madhya Pradesh Police after escaping from Bhopal Central Jail had once threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a video, dug from India TV archives, at least two of the eight SIMI activists who pulled off a daring prison break on October 31, were seen raising slogans in support of Taliban and saying that “Modi was next”.
In the video, shot outside a court in Bhopal, the terror accused were heard saying, “We are coming Taliban” and “I am waiting for Taliban”.
Mehboob alias Guddu and Aqeel Khilji, who were shot dead by the police on Monday are seen raising the slogans in the video.
“It is now Modi’s turn, inshallah,” Guddu could be heard saying in the video.
The video was recorded in May 2014.
Among those seen in the video is Abu Faisal, the mastermind of Khandwa jail escape who is still in Bhopal Central Jail, Abdul Aziz, Abdul Wahid, Javed Nagori and Mohammad Adil- all accused of being members of banned SIMI.
Eight SIMI activists, who pulled off a daring prison break and escaped in the wee hours on Monday after killing a security guard at the Bhopal Central Jail, were gunned down in an encounter at Malikheda on Bhopal outskirts hours later.
While CID is probing the alleged encounter, a separate investigation is on into the jailbreak.
The encounter triggered a controversy with questions being raised on the authenticity of encounter.
An audio clip of radio communication between the police headquarters and teams on encounter site surfaced today where a purported command was being given to kill the alleged terrorists.
