A new group has formed to facilitate communications between the NYC Hindu Coalition and the Mayor’s Office on the issue of Diwali. The NYC Hindu Coalition headed by Sitangshu Guha, Nisha Ramracha, and Vincent Bruno will incorporate a new non-profit with Adity Sharma as president to aid the Mayor’s Office in creating reports. The Mayor’s Office has already set a meeting on the issue for Thursday and the NYC Hindu Law Council is sure to have an official response by Friday. The Council is requesting that the Mayor’s Office create an official Hindu Task Force to oversee the NYC Hindu Law Council and agree to work with the Council to create a Diwali Event. They are also requesting that the Mayor’s Office have a meeting with community leaders next Friday, Aug 25th to present a more detailed discussion on the matter. The venture was negotiated by Vincent Bruno.
