Kurnool (AP) : The famous ‘Brahmarambha Mallikarjuna’ temple is located here. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had constructed ‘Gopuram’ on the north of this temple in the year 1674. Its height is about 100 feet. It is known as ‘Shivaji Gopuram’ since Shivaji Maharaj got constructed the same.

About 3 years ago, the structure had collapsed. Adv. K. V. Ramana Murthy, a local staunch ‘Hindutvavadi’ pursued the matter of reconstruction of this structure, with the State Government and finally his perseverance has borne fruit as the State Government has decided to re-construct the structure.

In March 2015, Adv. K. V. Ramana Murthy had submitted a representation to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the State Governor and Charity Department, in this connection. The State Government took immediate note of the same; initiating action. Adv. K. V. Ramana Murthy was also officially sent a reply to his representation informing him that tenders have been called for re-construction of ‘Gopuram’ sanctioning funds of Rs. 3.20 crores. Last year, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other pro-Hindu organizations had staged agitation demanding re-construction of ‘Gopuram’.
