LUCKNOW, INDIA, September 16, 2015 (Daily Pioneer): The state government has decided to take elderly residents of Uttar Pradesh to the pilgrimage of Tirupati and Rameshwaram free of cost under the Samajwadi Shrawan Sewa scheme. The pilgrimage is slated from November 26 till December 4. There will be 1044 berths for the pilgrims. Every sleeper coach will have one security officer and an attendant. The Health department will provide two doctors and four paramedics who will accompany the pilgrims.
Principal Secretary, Religious Affairs, Navneet Sehgal said that selected people would be taken to Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) and Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu) in a chartered train with the pilgrims provided travel kits. “Those pilgrims who live in other parts of the State will be carried to Lucknow in UPSRTC buses free of cost,” Sehgal said.
“During the journey, the pilgrims will be provided vegetarian food. They will be served morning tea, breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening tea as per the prescribed menu,” Sehgal said.
Interested pilgrims can get themselves registered on the website: samajwadishravanyatra.upgov.in and upload their details up to October 15. Sehgal said that District Magistrates would upload the required information on the official website and based on their report the pilgrims would be selected on first-come-first-serve basis.
