Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad) : “We are ready to embrace any Muslim or Christian who comes forward to embrace us for making peace,” Vishwa Hindu Parishad International working president Praveen Togadia has declared.
Speaking at VHP golden jubilee celebrations here on Sunday, he, however, warned of serious reaction against ‘Love Jihad’ and any activity to convert Hindus for that matter. “We will not tolerate Love Jihad under any circumstances”.
At a time when there are reports that ‘Ghar Wapsi’ programme is being vigorously conducted in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the VHP’s top leader chose not to speak on the same. But, he complained about conversion of Hindus into Christianity and Islam. He also demanded a new legislation to protect Hindus from conversion to other religions.
Referring to the conversion of Dalits to Christianity and Islam, Togadia said untouchability should be removed from society. He expressed his wish to see the day when Brahmins and Dalits share the same water well and feasts. “Every Hindu should be treated equally irrespective of his caste and status,” he added.
On his very first visit to the historic city after formation of Telangana state, Togadia indirectly took a dig at the state government and alleged that Urdu language was being given a preferential treatment vis-a-vis the local language of Telugu.
Allocation of `30 crore to Urdu Akademi and a mere `30 lakh for development of Telugu language clearly showed the intention of the state government, he said.
He also called for bringing back the golden days of Vijayanagara Kingdom and fight against any attempt to re-establish the Nizam rule here.
