G. Madhavan Nair is currently the President of International academy of Astronautics and formerly the Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation. He is a leading specialist in rocket technology and chief architect of the PSLV and the Chandrayan mission which found water on the moon. He has made significant contribution to space programme including the long term vision targeting societal application of high technology. The Government of Bharat conferred Madhavan Nair the highly coveted awards Padma Bhushan in 1998 and Padma Vibhushan in 2009.
