About the Program
Background – Many observe rituals and celebrate festivals without knowing their adhyatmic (spiritual) purpose and their larger context to Dharma. Many parents cannot explain the purpose of rituals and festivals to the younger generation. Over time, due to monotony, the rituals are dropped from households, resulting in an irreparable loss of Dharma traditions.
Program – Under the Lokadharma education and training program, we will conduct a session on Shivapuja, on the occasion of Shivaratri, which falls next week. Parents with young children are encouraged to attend the session, so that they can conduct Shivapuja at home next Friday on Shivaratri day, engaging their children in the process. Presence of children is desired, but not required. The aim of the program is to train the parents, so the puja can be done at home on the Shivaratri day.
Agenda
Program participants have been asked to present a topic related to Bhagwan Shiva, and background material has been provided to them. Attendees will present a topic of their choice. Presentation could be as simple as narrating a story from Shivapuran or sharing any other information on Bhagwan Shiva or Devi Parvati.Following presentations, Shashtri ji (temple priest) will provide demo on how to conduct Shivpuja at home properly. All attendees are expected to follow through, and do the puja at home with the participation of their children on Shivaratri day.
