Dear Friends,

JAI Hind!

Do you know this Princess of Sanskrit is from Thailand?.
Sanskrit, as we know, has, by and large, left India and found its home in Germany. German scholars have proved Sanskrit Is a live language. This is indeed one of the ironies of history.
This Princess MAHA CHAKRI SIRINDORN of Thailand has been awarded the maiden Cultural Relations World Award on November 21, 2016 at Delhi. At the ceremony, she said, “Honored and humbled to receive the first award instituted by ICCR”. She holds the view, “Sanskrit is important and the corpus of scientific, philosophical, sacral and poetic texts produced in this language is surely one of the richest contributions to global textual culture ever”. It is not for nothing Will Durant had prophetically said Sanskrit was the mother of all languages and the mother of all of us!
Well, it is again one of the ironies of history.
The writer of this piece in The Pioneer of November 22, 2016,     S S Balan tells about the Princess, “An eminent scholar of Sanskrit, Pali cultural studies, the Princess of Thailand keenly interested in epigraphy and has been a patron of Sanskrit studies in Thailand and also in the propagation of Sanskrit is Thailand.
Historically speaking, Sanskrit has been in existence for 7000 years.
Well, Friends, some of will recall we have had occasions to report that Sanskrit is the lingua franca among some families in Madhya Pradesh and that some over 400 members in a family in the heart of Mumbai converse in Sanskrit within themselves.

We wish we had in the Centre some Patron like the Princess of Thailand. “May be the Ministry of HRD in the Centre could institute some Chair for Sanskrit in the University of Delhi to start with. That is not very ambitious and will not be so difficult, even financially. As it is said, if there is a will, there will be a way.
We are aware of quite a few non-Sanskrit scholars in Delhi, who are rather proficient in Sanskrit. Some of them would be too happy to help the government. We are in touch with some of them.
We do hope our wish will be fulfilled someday. Should that be necessary, we may be of help in the matter. If only our wishes were horses!
