October 16, 2014

Dear Saif Ali Khan,

Subject: Inter-Religious Marriage And “Love Jihad”

We must first admire you for writing this piece in “The Indian Express” of October 15, 2014, giving vent to your ideas and beliefs. But, my dear friend, realities of life and film world are two different things.

You are generally and apparently exposed to Indian ethos, no matter your exposure to foreign lands. In order to know what geopolitical realities today are, may I suggest you to read what Javed Anand has written in “The Asian Age” of October 15, 2014. A copy of our mail, forwarding that write-up is attached for information.

Inter-religious marriage (you have called these “intermarriages”) is not common though such marriages do take place, possibly more in India than anywhere else. The reason for that lies in the catholicity of the Indian (read Hindu) people and Hindu civilisation. The Indians (read Hindus or Hindu civilisation, unlike the two other Abrahamic religions, in one of which is father was born) respect all religions and faiths. But, the religion of your forefathers is determined to enforce Allaha’s law and rule to the destruction/conversion of all other religions. You would be well aware of battles fought over this.

But, “love jihad” are not to be and cannot be equated with this inter (inter-religious) marriages. First of all, in reality, the victims of “love jihad” are mostly, if not cent per cent, young non-Muslim girls, tricked into marriage after showing feigned love (through “taqquiah, that is deception). This is a part of jihad (converting non-Mislims to Islam, a sacred duty enjoined on all Muslims by the Holy Quran). You would not be unaware of that. So, dear Saif Ali Khan, therein lies the truth.

Incidentally, cases of Muslim girls falling for Hindu boys do not fall in this category. These are rare also. In any case, If you would wish to educate yourself on what is “love jihad“, please take the trouble of going through the attached brief note on the subject. Its authenticity is guaranteed.

Frankly speaking, we were thinking whether to write to you at all and that too in this blunt manner so as not “to pollute” your “innocent” mind. But, then, we felt a good number of people might otherwise be misled ,believing in the writing of a popular film star.

But, friend, we are with you whole hog when you say, “I think we should have one law for all Indians, a uniform civil code, and we should all think ourselves as one nation.” All of us, Hindu Indians, are with you in this demand, one measure that will solve so many problems! But we are not too confident that you would not be censured with a fatwa from your Imams for airing such anti-Quranic thoughts. To your surprise and, perhaps horror or disbelief, you will not get a single soul in your “religion of peace” to stand by your side on this.

You are also on the dot when you say: “A lot of Islam needs to modernise and renew itself in order to be relevant. We also need a loud moderate voice to separate the good from the evil. Islam today is more unpopular than it has ever been. This is a great shame to me, as I have always thought of Islam as the moon, the desert, calligraphy and flying carpets, the thousand and one nights. I have always thought about it as a religion of peace and submission.”

Frankly speaking, many scholars, even from your religion, have clearly gone on record that Islam is not a religion but a strategic political treatise to enforce and ensure the rule of Islamic ummah, in which women, after marriage, are nothing but “slaves” of husbands and child-producing machinery only. It will be great, and you will go down in history as a tall reformer if you can ensure women’s emancipation/equal rights as with the menfolk in the Islamic world.

Wishing you all the best.

Vandemataram,

Your sevak,

D.C. Nath
